a Brighter Future for Puerto Rico’s Next Generation
La Tejedora emerges at a time where those in power in Puerto Rico are betting on the displacement of Puerto Ricans, the dismantling of our educational system and the apathy and political demobilization of our young people.
Thank you for supporting our work.

THREADS OF RESISTANCE: OUR WORK
Puerto Rico’s youth can reshape the fabric of our politics and drive social justice for our most marginalized communities. Our role is to promote civic participation and foster leadership through our programmatic offerings and educational exchanges.

We cultivate opportunities that prioritize:

Dear Supporters,
We understand that we are living through trying times – in Puerto Rico, the U.S. and globally. The rise of anti-democratic agendas and leaders, has led to the dismantling of earned human rights for vulnerable communities everywhere and to an increase of disinformation and fragmentation amongst young people who believe in different tactics to advance social justice. As a trans non-binary person myself, I know what is at stake. But I have also witnessed countless rising leaders fighting for a just, dignified world—a world where everyone has a voice and a seat at the table when it comes to making decisions that impact our lives.
At La Tejedora, we work alongside youth-led movements, organizations and individuals to weave together effective strategies for social change. Having experienced the dissipation of initiatives that prioritize equipping and educating Puerto Rico’s youth, our aim has been to revitalize enthusiasm and create new opportunities by concentrating on three key pillars: Líderes Agujas, Puntadas Diaspóricas, Puntadas Globales.
Puerto Rico has been a testing ground for shock doctrines, disaster capitalism and extractive practices that have displaced millions of Boricuas on and off the archipelago. The working class and poor people bear the brunt of the debt and climate destruction wrought by a combination of federal and local policies that promote austerity and gentrification. In cities with large Puerto Rican populations, many of the same dynamics are also the same.
We firmly believe in our right to remain in Puerto Rico and our right to return as a diasporic community.
As we navigate these uncertain times, La Tejedora will continue to expose communities we are working with to new and inspiring ways of creating change, and serve as a container to build solidarity with decolonization movements around the world.
